We have been collaborating with artist, Kelly Meadows to create a truly unique piece of art.

WOW!

That was our first reaction when we saw samples of Kelly's work. We discovered her art at a local shop where EW purchases her leather corsets. The manager of the store is a fan of our site, and thought we might be interested in Kelly's artistic talents.

The manager showed us a couple pieces that Kelly had left at the shop. They were impressive and you could immediately see the artist had talent. Thoughts of what Kelly could do with our photographs immediately went through our minds. We wanted to meet Kelly ASAP, and the manager of the store graciously arranged it.

Upon meeting Kelly EW and I shared our immense admiration for her work. We then quickly discussed the idea of collaborating on a project. We showed Kelly samples of our work and she was enthused. After that first meeting we had tentatively agreed to work with each other. Kelly perused our site and selected a couple images to draw. After more discussion it was narrowed to one image.

Rock Formations

Kelly titled her piece, Rock Formations. It is based upon Study #6 from our Red Desert Sandstone collection.

It is absolutely stunning. The image here does not do the drawing justice. It truly takes your breath away when you see it. You will marvel for hours at all of the intricate detail, and wonder how anyone could have drawn it with a pencil.

The Creative Process

Kelly created her masterpiece by first projecting the selected photograph onto fine art paper that is taped to the wall. The image is projected using a special projector designed for the process.

She then carefully traces an outline of all the major compositional elements. This is a tedious process, but Kelly's skill is evident. She can complete the basic outline within an hour.

What then follows is a process involving countless hours of detailed drawing. Kelly is a fanatic for details and a master of her craft. Just using a pencil she renders every subtly of light and form with masterful precision. The paper begins to take on a life of its own and you feel as though you can reach out and touch the object before you. For a moment, it seems real, and you have to stop yourself from rubbing the delicate drawing with your hand.
